Standard grout is cement-based and porous — it absorbs water, stains and eventually hosts mould. Epoxy grout is a two-part resin system that cures into a dense, non-porous joint. Water beads on it, stains wipe off, and mould has nothing to grip into.
/02Where it beats cement grout
Shower floors, niches and any joint that copes daily water are where epoxy earns its keep. It never needs sealing, handles harsh cleaning, and keeps its colour for the life of the bathroom. For rentals and busy family bathrooms it's close to set-and-forget.
/03Where it isn't necessary
Upper walls in a low-use ensuite or a powder-room splashback may not justify the premium — good polymer grout performs well there. Honest advice matters more than upselling: we'll tell you which areas benefit and which don't.

Epoxy sets fast and residues cure hard — it punishes inexperience. Joints must be packed, tooled and cleaned on a tight clock or the finish suffers.
